A man living abroad expresses, “I long for Nigeria; my mental well-being isn’t optimal.”

A Nigerian man living abroad grapples with nostalgia, reflecting on the challenges of assimilating after leaving behind his loved ones in Nigeria in pursuit of better opportunities.

Sharing his plight on social media, @ridwan_on_x expressed profound loneliness and the unexpected intensity of his emotional struggle.

Despite anticipating some degree of loneliness, he never imagined its overwhelming impact. He emphasizes the toll it’s taking on his mental well-being while reminiscing about the happiness of being surrounded by family and friends back home in Nigeria.

“I’m completely devoid of motivation. I yearn for Nigeria, my family, my friends, and the life I had before leaving. Even if just for a week, I ache to visit Nigeria. My mental health is suffering.”

In another post, he remarked, “Unable to respond to all messages, but grateful for everyone’s concern, kind words, and support. I didn’t expect the post to attract so much attention, and I didn’t mean to seek sympathy. But since it did, if anyone’s in Vienna, let’s connect.”
