Senator Shehu Umar Buba, who represents Bauchi South, has accused the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed of being responsible for the widespread hardship and hunger in Bauchi State. He made these accusations during the statewide campaign kickoff of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
In response to Governor Mohammed’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s EndBadGovernance speech, Senator Buba rebuked the governor for politicizing the protest. He argued that President Tinubu’s political influence is far greater than that of Governor Mohammed, stating, “President Ahmed Tinubu is not your political equal. You cannot compare your political strength with Tinubu because I am your political equal, as we both have the same political mentor, former Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda.”
Senator Buba dismissed claims that APC’s policies at the federal level were to blame for the hardship, calling such assertions misleading and false. He pointed to several federal interventions, including the provision of 20 trucks of rice, 70 trucks of guinea corn, and 70 trucks of assorted fertilizer to Bauchi State, which he alleged were either mismanaged or not distributed to the people.
“The hardship in Bauchi State is caused by the PDP-led administration under Governor Bala Mohammed. It is a one-man government, corrupt and ineffective. I challenge the governor to disprove all these allegations,” Buba stated. He further criticized the PDP government in Bauchi State, arguing that nothing is functioning properly despite the billions of naira received from the federation account. Buba expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the upcoming local government elections, suggesting that a victory would foreshadow the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
Hon Mohammed Hassan Tilde, the acting Chairman of the State APC, also voiced the party’s determination to challenge the ruling party in Bauchi State and urged APC members to safeguard the party’s votes during the elections.
