CKay reveals how his colleagues declined to collaborate with him.

Nigerian singer CKay has revealed that despite the global success of his hit song “Love Nwantiti,” some of his colleagues turned down collaboration requests from him.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, CKay expressed his disappointment at the lack of recognition for “Love Nwantiti” in Nigeria, despite its over a billion streams and numerous international awards.

He expressed skepticism about awards in general, citing instances where deserving music went unrecognized, both at the Grammys and in Nigerian award ceremonies.

CKay found it intriguing that “Love Nwantiti,” certified 6x platinum, received no awards in Nigeria, raising questions about the selection process.

CKay also shared his observations about the music industry, acknowledging the presence of love but admitting that his attempts at collaboration with some industry members were met with resistance, even after the success of “Love Nwantiti.”

Despite being reserved, he expressed openness to collaborations but encountered challenges in realizing them.
