Davido is set to perform at the ‘Warri Again’ concert following a court’s approval of an out-of-court settlement between him and Pinnick regarding a failed contract.

Davido and Pinnick have reached an agreement to settle out of court, with Davido set to perform at the ‘Warri Again’ concert.

A Delta High Court in Effurun has approved the out-of-court settlement between Brownhill Investment Company and Davido, also known as David Adeleke.

Justice Michael Obi of High Court Three in Effurun commended both parties for choosing to resolve the dispute amicably outside of the courtroom.

“I commend both parties for pursuing an amicable resolution outside of court,” stated Obi. According to the report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Brownhill Investment Company, owned by Amaju Pinnick, former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), initiated legal action marked EHC/183/2023 against afrobeat singer Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, as joint defendants in October 2023.

The lawsuit stemmed from an alleged breach of contract regarding their non-performance at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again Concert’.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff sought ₦2 billion in general damages from the defendants for their alleged failure to fulfill the concert contract.

Additionally, Pinnick’s company requested ₦150 million for legal and professional fees, plus ₦30 million for filing costs. After the court’s ruling, the defendants’ counsel, Oladayo Ogungbe, informed NAN that both parties had reached an out-of-court settlement successfully.

“Davido will perform in Warri again on October 4 as part of the settlement,” he stated. “It’s a preferable alternative to lengthy litigation.”

“Both parties have chosen to pursue an out-of-court settlement, which, in my legal opinion, is the optimal approach to any litigation,” Ogungbe remarked.

“It’s a mutually beneficial outcome for both sides.”
