Fans warmly welcomed Nigerian musician Rema as he visits his hometown for the first time in six years.

Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, made a long-awaited return to his hometown of Benin City after a six-year absence.

In a viral video, the Mavin artist was seen mingling with a group of local entertainers from his state, including Shallipopi and Davido’s loyal aide, Israel DMW. The clip captured Rema at the forefront, eagerly taking pictures with those around him as they descended the plane aisle.

Another captivating video showcased Rema’s arrival at the airport, where he was greeted by a vibrant cultural dance ensemble. The warm and joyful welcome highlighted the excitement surrounding his homecoming.

Rema first gained prominence with his 2019 smash single “Dumebi” and subsequently signed with D’Prince’s Jonzing World label, later joining Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. His 2022 hit “Calm Down” featured a remix with American pop star Selena Gomez, reaching the third position on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominating the US Afrobeats Songs chart for a record 58 weeks.

After relocating to Lagos in 2018, Rema’s triumphant return to Benin City in 2024 marks a significant milestone in his journey from local acclaim to global stardom.
