“First Rap, now Afrobeats; How many genres Wizkid wan kill?” – Terry Tha Rapman

Nigerian rapper Terry Tha Rapman has accused Grammy-winning singer Wizkid of being responsible for the decline of the rap genre and now attempting to exert a similar influence on Afrobeats.

Wizkid received criticism from Terry Tha Rapman following his recent social media outburst where he stated that he doesn’t identify himself as an Afrobeats artist.

Reflecting on Wizkid’s social media post questioning his musical genre classification, Terry Tha Rapman responded on the X platform, alleging that Wizkid’s previous statement of “rap is dead” contributed to the decline of the genre and that his recent remarks indicate a similar attitude towards Afrobeats.

Terry Tha Rapman cautioned Highlife musicians to be cautious of Wizkid, suggesting that they might be the next target of his influence.

In his words,

“First Rap, now Afrobeats. How many genres Wizkid wan kill? Highlife, run O!”
