Aribemchukwu, the daughter of Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, was allegedly murdered by her domestic workers, according to Lagos police. A police source revealed that one of the domestic staff confessed to being involved in the crime.
Reports from Within Nigeria indicate that Aribemchukwu, known as Chuchu, was found dead at her residence in the upscale Parkview Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos State. Her body was discovered outside her home on Wednesday morning.
Following the discovery, the police arrested three domestic workers: a house help, a security guard, and a driver. A confidential police source stated that the house help confessed to the murder during interrogation.
The source explained that Aribemchukwu was killed in her room, and her body was dragged outside the gate to make it appear as if she had been killed there. Despite efforts to clean up the blood stains, some spots were missed due to the act being committed at night.
“The deceased was killed in her room and her body was dragged to the front of the gate to make it look like she was killed on the spot. After that, all the blood stains were carefully cleaned but still, they missed some spots. They did not clean it well because it happened at night,” the police source said.
During interrogation, the house help reportedly admitted to the crime, saying, “We did it, we did it,” corroborating the evidence found.
The suspects are also believed to have stolen the deceased’s valuables immediately after committing the crime. The police source confirmed that all three domestic workers were hired a week before the incident.
Aribemchukwu was a doctor and had recently married before her tragic death.
