Imo State residents stayed indoors yesterday in response to the nationwide protest.
This led to a halt in economic and social activities, with roads and streets largely empty.
A survey of the state capital and surrounding areas showed that businesses, including banks, private offices, shops, petrol stations, and supermarkets, remained closed, reflecting a widespread shutdown.
The lack of people on the streets and the closure of establishments indicated that residents were cautious and chose to stay home due to uncertainty and concerns about potential unrest.
Throughout the state, heavily armed soldiers and policemen were positioned at strategic locations such as the Government House Roundabout, Douglas Road, World Bank, and Akwakuma Junction.
Despite the general shutdown, the state secretariat’s gate was open with a few workers present, while security personnel were stationed on key roads leading to the entrance.
