“Lagos Government Issues Warning Against Open Defecation”

The Lagos State Government has initiated a clean-up operation targeting the Ojodu-Berger median, which has been plagued by open defecation.

This initiative, announced on Tuesday, was accompanied by a firm warning from authorities against the unsanitary practice.

In a video shared on X by the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, ministry officials were shown clearing the median along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“Lagos State begins clean-up of Ojodu-Berger median, issues warning against defecating on the road,” Wahab wrote in the video’s caption. The median has long been a source of concern, often defaced by waste left by individuals misusing the area. This situation has forced pedestrians crossing the expressway to endure foul odors.

The stretch from Berger in Lagos State to Kara, Warewa, and Mowe in Ogun State’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area has been particularly affected, leading residents to voice worries about the significant health hazards posed by the unpleasantly odorous areas.
