Looters and Vandals Exploited Hunger Protests – Sen. Hussaini

Senator Babangida Hussaini (APC Jigawa North West) has voiced his concerns over the nationwide hunger protests that began on August 1, 2024, highlighting that they have been hijacked by looters and vandals.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Senator Hussaini condemned those who have turned the protests into opportunities for looting and vandalizing both public and private properties in Jigawa State, labeling such actions as undemocratic.

The senator noted that he was personally affected by the violent protests but remains dedicated to providing quality and responsive representation to the people of Jigawa North West through development-focused legislation.

“As one of the victims of the wanton destruction of property and looting in Jigawa State, I consider what happened as a manifestation of the unfortunate circumstances in which we find ourselves as a nation at this historic moment,” Hussaini said.

He emphasized that the negative consequences of the demonstrations do not reflect the genuine issues raised by the protest organizers. Instead, they expose the intentions of mischief-makers and enemies of the state who aim to destabilize the country for their selfish gains.

“I wish to assure my constituents that I am not angry at what has happened to me personally. I will not be deterred or distracted from my legislative service compact with the people of Jigawa North West Senatorial District,” he stated.

Senator Hussaini reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituents and pursuing effective legislation that will positively impact his Senatorial District and Nigeria. He pledged to continue working under the legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
