Police Discover Six ‘Terrorist’ Grenades in Maiduguri

The Borno police command announced the recovery of six grenade-like objects in the Ajilari cross area of Maiduguri, believed to be remnants of terrorist activities.

State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, reported that the projectiles were found during operations on Friday. Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) personnel from Base 13, deployed to the scene, determined that the grenades contained incendiary chemicals. The area was thoroughly screened, and the grenades were safely removed, ensuring the area’s security.

In a separate incident, 20 individuals were detained for allegedly causing chaos and setting fires in Maiduguri. They are currently undergoing questioning and examination to facilitate a transparent trial.

Additionally, Lawal reported a violent clash in Bassam Galomari Village where Fulani herders invaded a farm, leading to a confrontation with the farm owner. When the owner attempted to remove the herders, one of them attacked and severely injured him, cutting both his hands. The victim was initially taken to Gubio Hospital and later transferred to Maiduguri Hospital for further treatment.

Lawal stated that security agencies have been instructed to take swift action to resolve the crisis and restore order. Security forces continue to remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining public safety and preventing further incidents.
