The police in Abuja have fatally shot a boy during the ongoing nationwide protest.
The incident occurred near the Zenith Bank area in Kubwa, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the #EndBadGovernance protest entered its third day.
An eyewitness reported that the boy, who was shot at close range, was not involved in the protest.
“The boy was not part of the protesters; he was just passing by when the police, positioned elsewhere, pointed a gun at us,” the eyewitness said.
Earlier that day, security operatives at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja fired live rounds at both protesters and journalists.
The security forces, attempting to disperse the demonstrators, aimed their fire at the protesters and journalists, who fled for safety.
The protesters were regrouping after being previously dispersed by security agents at the stadium. Suddenly, masked security operatives, suspected to be from the Department of State Services, began firing sporadically at the crowd.
