Police in Kano Shooting and Threatening Protesters with Death, Says Bulama Bukarti

Bulama Bukarti, a security analyst, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of shooting #EndBadGovernance protesters in Kano and issuing death threats to them. He urged the police to acknowledge the killings of protesters in the state.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Bukarti stressed the importance of investigating the incidents and holding the responsible officers accountable. He mentioned videos that show police officers threatening and shooting at protesters.

“One of the issues tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force is their denial of the killings of protesters despite clear evidence. We have seen videos of these incidents. Some of these videos, corroborated by sources on the ground, show police shooting at protesters in areas like Kurna Babban Layi in Kano,” Bukarti said.

He added, “People are being shot, and some have died. There are videos of police officers threatening protesters with death in Kano State and of officers shooting at them.

“It undermines the rank and status of the Inspector-General of Police to deny these incidents. If they want to demonstrate respect for their profession and show Nigerians that they uphold the rule of law and do not protect those who abuse their power, they should acknowledge what happened, investigate it, and punish the officers involved.”
