Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, recover N7.9m, Rescue Three Indians In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command reported that its officers neutralized two suspected kidnappers during a gun duel on the Sagamu Ijebu-Ode-Benin road. This confrontation occurred during a rescue operation to free several abducted Indian nationals. The incident unfolded on Tuesday, according to Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson.

The operation was launched in response to a distress call about a kidnapping incident last Friday, involving three Indians named Tejaram Chauhan, Kaduwal Pradhan, and Medani Kathiwada. These individuals were traveling in a vehicle without police escort and were abducted by gunmen at the Kajola junction along the Sagamu-Siun-Abeokuta road.

The police and local security forces initiated a comprehensive search and engagement strategy, which culminated in a fierce exchange of gunfire in a forest along the Benin-Sagamu Papalanto route. The police succeeded in rescuing the hostages unharmed and, during the engagement, killed two kidnappers and recovered an array of weapons including two AK-47 rifles, a locally made gun, ammunition, a sword, cell phones, and criminal charms.

Additionally, the police recovered N7.9 million and 1500 Indian Rupees, suspected ransom payments from previous kidnappings. The bodies of the deceased kidnappers were deposited in a public mortuary, and efforts are ongoing to capture the four remaining members of the gang.
