Nigerian Army Troops Arrest Notorious Gun-Runner in KadunaTroops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended Mallam Hashimu Ahmad, a notorious gun-runner, in Kaduna state.
Ahmad was detained while en route to deliver high-caliber weapons to terrorists. During the operation, the troops also rescued several kidnapped victims in the north-western state.In another operation, troops intercepted a truck carrying illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO) in Delta State.
The army, in collaboration with other security agencies, captured Ahmad at Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area. Ahmad had been on the wanted list for supplying arms and ammunition to terrorists. Among the recovered weapons were a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, an RPG Bomb, 1,069 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and a belt of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition.
The vehicle used to transport the arms and ammunition was also seized.In Sokoto State, troops on patrol in the Matalawa village area of Isa Local Government Area rescued hostages who had been kidnapped and taken into the forest.
The troops, responding to a distress call, engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight, resulting in the hostages’ release. The rescued individuals have been reunited with their families. In Delta State, acting on credible intelligence, troops intercepted a tanker truck carrying 15,000 liters of suspected illegally refined AGO at Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area.
Two suspects involved in transporting the illegal product were taken into custody for preliminary investigation before being handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.The Nigerian Army continues to intensify operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and various crimes, aiming to dismantle criminal syndicates across the country. The army remains committed to safeguarding the nation and eliminating networks that contribute to insecurity.
