UNICAL presents a cash prize of N1M to the student graduating with the highest overall performance.

Roland Osaji Takon, recognized as the top student overall at the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) in 2023/2024, receives a prize of N1 million for his outstanding academic achievement. 

With first-class honors in history and international studies, he distinguished himself among 10,117 graduates.

According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Florence Obi, Roland achieved a CGPA of 4.85 and was awarded the SUG prize of one million naira for being the top graduate. 

She announced Roland Takon as the overall best student and valedictorian, highlighting his outstanding performance in the Department of History and International Studies for the 2021/2022 session. 

Out of 9,722 Bachelor Degrees awarded, 46 received First Class Honours (34 males, 12 females), indicating an improved graduation rate, with 80% of graduates this year being male.
