Yoruba movie actress Oyinade Adegbenro recently shared a heartbreaking story about the financial difficulties she faced in her acting career.
In a video on Oyinmomo TV’s official YouTube channel, Adegbenro opened up about how her mother’s act of generosity turned into a devastating loss due to unscrupulous marketers in the movie industry.
Adegbenro candidly discussed the challenges she encountered when trying to produce her own movie. At one point in her career, she considered giving up on acting altogether due to the lack of roles coming her way from colleagues. Disheartened, she decided to relocate to Ilorin, where her parents live.
Before her relocation, Adegbenro’s mother offered her support. The actress recounted, “Before I relocated, my mother called to inform me that her pension money has been paid, and she was ready to give me some money to do whatever I want.”
In a selfless act of support, Adegbenro’s mother gave her the money from her pension to invest in producing her own movie. However, what should have been a stepping stone to greater success turned into a nightmare due to the actions of some marketers. The actress shared her harrowing experience, stating, “Some marketers frustrated my efforts because they were paying in installments, but later they stopped giving me profits, and I lost all the money I invested.”
